What does 8careers symbolize?

8careers is a symbolic representation of our name Infinity Careers.

In mathematics "infinity" resembles a horizontal eight, or "∞". 8careers stands for unlimited professional career opportunities regardless of location, occupation and position. Our name expresses the essence of our mission for you.

Will 8careers’ consultants address me informally?

Our principle is quick, effective and immediate action, and simple communication - and therefore on our website we have chosen the simplest and most direct form of address. This does not mean that we do not respect you. In written correspondence and in direct contact, we still address you as Mr. and Mrs.

We made a second communication simplification. Service is directed to all who need our assistance, but in order to provide a better readability we have omitted to list both female and male forms.

What makes the services of 8careers unique?

We observed that most people searching for a better job do it in an ineffective way, wasting their precious time and money. We also noticed that no agency exists that is able to offer a comprehensive career counseling for international companies and abroad. We decided to change this, setting ourselves a goal to prepare our clients to professionally apply for attractive job openings. Our services help to overcome boundaries of professional development, arising due to differences in the formal application process requirements in various countries or mistakes made by candidates themselves during individual application submissions.

Our job as consultants is to quickly and professionally create your application documents and enable you to find a suitable job. Our services are based on our own experience. We collected it as employees, when successfully applying for jobs in our home countries and abroad. We also worked in the field of HR, representing employers during the recruitment process, both in Europe and worldwide. We know the ins and outs of the recruitment process and we are able to give you support at the highest level while searching for a job that you aspire to and that suits you. In addition, we are also distinguished by a wealth of experience in translation and interpreting as well as working in international projects of vocational guidance. In this regard, we cooperate with many reliable partners.

I need an application in a foreign language, why should I work with 8careers, and not with the translation bureau?

To attract positive attention and convince a potential employer, you need much more than a mere translation. We offer you comprehensive application services. Such expert support you will not receive from any translation bureau. They certainly can professionally translate a wide range of documents from many different areas of life and technology, but they do not deal with recruitment matters.

In developing your documents in a foreign language, we adapt them to the linguistic and cultural criteria, i.e. we prepare them in accordance with the formal requirements for applications in your targeted country. At the same time, we propose the optimal layout for your project.

As an international careers advice company, we constantly monitor the changing hiring needs of employers and we share this knowledge with you when delivering our services.

Can you directly find me a job?

No, we are not a recruitment agency. However, we can help you with your application documents and job interviews. On our blog you can read more about the latest job search techniques, so that you will know what sources to use in order to find a suitable job yourself.

How much do the 8careers services cost?

We founded 8careers on the belief that top candidate services should be affordable to all. Moreover, the prices are transparent, clearly presented and there is no small print. We divested ourselves of unnecessary high costs for office space, a great marketing budget, and we realize services quickly, efficiently and inexpensively via the phone and the Internet. A face-to-face meeting is only needed for Coaching sessions, but the service still remains affordable - see Table of Services.

How can I contact 8careers?

It is best to contact us by using our contact form, by e-mail and from Monday to Friday from 9am to 1pm and from 2pm to 8pm via free instant messaging systems (e.g. Skype) or by telephone at your landline call fee. Check our contact details in the contact tab at the top right corner of the webpage.

2. Regarding services
I decided to buy services of 8careers, how can I order them?

If you decide on one or more services, you can order them through our website by completing one of our forms: order now form, attachment order form, coaching order form. If you have any questions, please contact us.

Do I need to come in?

There is no need for you to visit us in person, if you order following services: "CV & Cover Letter Writing", "Attachment Writing & Translation", "Social Media Profile Development" and "Application Distribution”. We work primarily over the Internet and by email or telephone. In case of "Interview Coaching" a meeting is necessary. Beyond that, you are always welcome in our office in Berlin. Regarding possible meetings in other cities, please make a date in advance, ideally by email, phone or skype.

In which languages can 8careers render these services?

We prepare application documents primarily in German, English, French, Spanish and Polish. Moreover, we are able to prepare documents in any European language and in Chinese.

How long is the turnaround time for 8careers’ services?

The Table of Services includes delivery times. The delivery time starts upon telephone consultation (service "CV & Cover Letter Writing"), receipt of all relevant documents (service "Attachment Writing & Translation") or acceptance of the final CV (services "Social Media Profile Development" and "Application Distribution”). You can also choose an express delivery option.

What does express delivery mean?

In express mode, the delivery time shortens to 1-5 days, depending on the size of your order and the level you’ve reached.

In express mode, we treat your order as a priority and it therefore costs 50% more. We will not sacrifice quality for speed.

How can I make comments to my order?

Communication with you is an essential element when we deliver the service to you. When placing an order on the website, please provide us with any requests and comments. To ensure the best possible implementation of your order please state information clearly. Any additional requirements and concerns to be taken into account should also be discussed during the telephone consultation.

How can I evaluate the services provided by 8careers?

After each completed order we ask you for feedback on your satisfaction with our services. All data concerning the number of invitations to interviews and assessment centers and your chosen work are very important. Is my data stored after the completion of order?

Based on your consent to process and store your personal data, we keep your data and documents in our database, with consideration of all confidentiality and privacy rules and your rights to access and modify data in accordance with applicable law. Stored documents can also be used for subsequent orders, such as updating CV after a few years.

Upon your request, we can permanently delete your data and documents from our database at any time, in accordance with our policy and the law on personal data protection.

3. Regarding „CV & Cover Letter Writing”
Why hire a professional for writing my CV and Cover Letter?

A well-written CV and cover letter is usually a ticket to the next stage of application process, the job interview. There are people who are able to write good application documents themselves - fair, objective and in a manner that is attractive to potential employers. However, most candidates lack the objectivity and skills in this art. Contrary to the common belief, writing a professional CV is not an easy task.

With the CV and cover letter written by our consultants you can be sure that your application documents:

  • are free of errors that you could make writing your CV yourself,
  • are customized to the position you are applying for,
  • effectively highlight your qualifications and your positive attributes,

Writing a resume on your own is useless and time wasting in most cases. What is the process of application documents drafting?

In simple terms:

  1. Upon receipt of payment, our consultant will contact you by phone according to the information provided by you. Please provide your landline number, because there is no loss of signal during the conversation as it occasionally is the case when using cell phones. During the consultation, the consultant will want to get to know you, discuss your strengths, interests, career plans and learn more about the position for which you want to apply.
  2. After the call, the consultant will prepare a draft version of your CV (and cover letter, if applicable) and send it to you for your approval.
  3. Within 5 working days, you can communicate any revision requests by e-mail or by phone. In case of comments and questions, the consultant will explain the reasons for the amendments recommended by us, and then will implement the changes, as you and he agrees during the follow-up conversation.
  4. The final version of the new application documents will be sent to you electronically. Thereby, the order processing will be completed.
  5. When ordering a package in two languages, preparing the first language version proceeds according to the steps described above. A second language version will be prepared subsequently within the next 2 days. During the drafting of the second language version it is no longer possible to make any substantive changes.
In what format should I deliver my current application documents?

Choose the way most convenient to you:

  • by email as a file in any of the following formats: .doc, .rtf or .txt (Word), .odt (Open Office), or .pdf (Adobe Reader), .jpg, .bmp, .png. or
  • by post to our postal address in Berlin or Szczecin.
What formats can you create my new application documents in?

8careers provides you with application documents in two formats: .doc (Word) and .pdf (Adobe-Reader). If you wish to receive documents in another format, please let us know in the "Comments" field on the order form.

Are my new application documents professionally formatted or do I receive them as a plain text?

Professional application documents have an appropriate layout, which plays an important part in how the candidate is perceived by recruiters. We will recommend a layout to you, which will highlight your strengths and skills.

Does 8careers prepare CVs for candidates wishing to submit their application at a prospective employer without referring to a specific job opening?

We also prepare applications of this type. Please give us as much information about the industry and position of interest to you, because the more specific your data, the more targeted your application documents.

4. Regarding „Attachment Writing & Translation”
Why should you try to get letters of recommendation?

A letter of recommendation is a kind of confirmation of your professional experience. The employer has no obligation to issue such a document, but from the perspective of the candidate it is worth getting one, particularly if you plan to apply in German-speaking countries. Letters of recommendation are very important and greatly increase the chances for progress in the recruitment process.

A properly written letter of recommendation should have an adequate form. By turning to us, you get a ready-to-sign document that you can submit to your current employer.

Can I order "Attachment Writing & Translation" without ordering any CV writing package?

Yes. This is possible. Please use the attachments order form.

Do I need to send in the originals for 8careers to translate them?

In the case of ordinary translations, please not submit originals, copies will suffice. You can send them by e-mail or post.

If you need to carry a certified translation you must send the originals by registered mail. To speed up the translation process, it is best to attach scanned documents at the stage of completing the attachments order form. Sending the originals in is also required for notary confirmations.

What is the process of the service "Attachment translation"?

This service is carried out in the following way:

  1. Place your order using the attachments order form. Remember to indicate the approximate number of pages to be translated. We will confirm the exact number of so called standard pages upon receipt of your order.
  2. Upon receipt of payment, our consultant/translator will proceed to translate your documents.
  3. Within 3 working days, you will receive translated documents electronically and on the same day, they will be sent to you by post.
What is the process of the service "Certified attachment translation"?

This service is carried out in the following way:

  1. Place your order using the attachments order form. Remember to indicate the approximate number of pages to be translated. We will confirm the exact number of so called standard pages upon receipt of your order.
  2. Send originals by registered mail to the postal address in Szczecin (provided in the footer and on the contact page).
  3. Upon receipt of payment and your documents, our consultant/translator will proceed to translate your documents. Sending scans of your documents when placing an order speeds up this process.
  4. The chartered translator cooperating with us confirms the originality of the documents received by post and the language translation.
  5. Translated documents and originals send to us will be sent back to you by registered mail.
What is the process of the service "Notary attachment confirmation"?

This service is carried out in the following way:

  1. Place your order using the order attachments form. Remember to properly indicate the number of pages to be notarized.
  2. Send originals by registered mail to the postal address in Szczecin (provided in the footer and on the contact page).
  3. Upon receipt of payment and your documents, the notary cooperating with us will proceed to confirm the documents.
  4. Notarized copies and originals sent to us will be sent back to you by registered mail.
5. Regarding „Social Media Profile Development”

Can I order "Application Distribution" without ordering any CV writing package?

To process the service "Application Distribution" it is necessary to draft a new CV for you. Hence, this service can be only ordered together with one of our CV writing packages.

What is the process of the services "CV posting on online job boards" and "Application distribution to recruitment agencies"?

Upon finalizing your new application documents, this service will be carried out within the next 2 working days.

What is the process of the service "Vocational mobility"?

With this service we assist you in the recruitment process and the signing of the agreement between you and your future place of intern- or traineeship. The steps look as follows:

  1. First, we prepare the application documents for you: the most important one being your CV, cover letter and attachments.
  2. Then, we match your profile and preferences with the profile and interests of the institution or company seeking interns or trainees.
  3. If the interview is part of the recruitment process, we prepare you for it, so you can get a positive reply from your prospective receiving agency.
  4. If the receiving agency does not have funds to offset your living costs, you will look for funding source for you.
  5. We finalize your intern or traineeship admission by signing an agreement with the receiving agency.

7. Regarding „Interview Coaching”
How do I benefit from job interview coaching?

For a job interview to lead to a job offer is a matter of preparation and practice. The more prepared you are, the greater the chance of leaving a great impression on the hiring manager. If verbal reasoning is one of your weak points, a careful preparation for the job interview is a must. By taking part in the job interview coaching, you gain confidence and avoid being surprised and unnecessarily nervous during the forthcoming interview.

Can I order "Interview Coaching" without ordering any CV writing package?

Yes. This is possible. But generally, we recommend ordering at least the package BASIC. A professional CV improves the coaching objectives and outcomes.

What is the process of the service "Interview Coaching"?

This service is carried out in the following way:

  1. Upon receipt of payment, our consultant will contact you by phone according to the information given by you. Please provide your landline number, because there is no loss of signal as is occasionally the case when using cell phones. During this phone call, the consultant will want to get to know you, discuss the points to be addressed during the coaching session and set up a time and place for the coaching session to take place.
  2. Then, the consultant will conduct the coaching session with you in any of the following cities, Berlin, Szczecin, Wroclaw, Poznan, Warsaw or Cracow.
  3. During the coaching session, you will practice the interview simulation and receive an objective, professional evaluation of your interview technique.
  4. After the session, the consultant will follow-up with a complete summary of your strengths and a list of tips on what exactly you need to improve in order to make a positive impression during the job interview and increase your chances of landing the job you want.
How long does a coaching session last?

One coaching session lasts 1.5 hours. To really boost your skills and fine tune your interview techniques we recommend to book at least two coaching sessions.

8. Regarding prices and payments
Why are the prices different for varying levels of CV?

Our fees vary according to the level you've reached. Obviously, a student's CV is very different to a chief executive's in terms of the amount of work involved.

When do I pay?

We do take payment at the time of order. As we strive to build long-term client relationships, we do not want to chase clients for payment as this jeopardizes that relationship. Also, this policy eliminates bad debts and keeps our costs and hence our fees at a minimum. We believe this to be for the overall benefit of our clients.

How can I pay for a service?

As of today, payment can be made via bank transfer. Please always carefully fill in the reference field.

Are 8careers’ service costs tax deductible?

Yes. If you live in Germany, you can generally deduct the cost of our services as business expenditures (Werbungskosten) when filing your taxes in accordance with § 9 and 19 of the Income Tax Act (§ 9 und 19 EStG).

More detailed information can be obtained from your tax advisor. You can also ask your job center (Arbeitsamt) office whether they will reimburse the costs.
